It’s May. More specifically, the week of May 11th, and you know what that means? It’s my debut novel’s birthday! Not Our Summer turns two this year, can you believe it? To celebrate, I’m sharing my playlist made specifically for this book AND I’m giving away my LAST author copy! I started out with 25 copies from my publisher, and I’m down to the very last one, and some lucky winner is going to get it!
I have to admit, I’m a little sad to part with my last author copy (though I actually still have this one, signed by guests at my launch party, so I’m lying a little when I say it’s my last–it’s just that I won’t likely be doing anymore giveaways). 🙁
It also means it’s the end of an era in a way. My baby isn’t a baby any more. She’s growing up. *sniff, sniff*
But back to the celebration theme . . . it truly is a happy occasion. Even if I never publish another book in my life (lord, please let me publish another book!) I can be proud that I published this one. I’m very proud of it.
So without further ado, I present to you, the Not Our Summer playlist:
Not Our Summer Playlist
1.) Family is Family by Kacey Musgraves* (theme song)
2.) High Horse by Kacey Musgraves
3.) Life is a Highway (2018 version) by Tom Cochrane
4.) Saltwater Gospel by Eli Young Band*
5.) Blowin’ Smoke by Kacey Musgraves
6.) Bad Blood by Taylor Swift
7.) Cruel Summer by Bananarama
8.) Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper
9.) In the End by Linkin Park
10.) Island in the Sun by Weezer
11.) Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift
12.) Move On by Mike Posner
13.) Rodeo by Garth Brooks
14.) Rodeo Girl by Mickey and the Motorcars*
15.) Dragonfly by Nahko*
16.) We Will Rock You by Queen
The * next to a selection denotes a personal favorite among this collection, as well as those songs that have an extra special meaning related to the book. 🙂 Some of the songs are specifically mentioned in Not Our Summer, but many are songs that make me think of specific scenes or the vibe of the book, in general.
And for those of you who are interested, no I don’t write while listening to music. I find it very difficult to write with any noise at all (except for the occasional coffee shop sprint). I did, however, listen to this playlist a lot while on my daily walks. It also played on repeat at my launch party.
Now for the giveaway! If you’d like the opportunity to win my final author copy of Not Our Summer (signed, of course), here’s where you enter! This time, I am opening up the giveaway to readers worldwide. I will ship it anywhere in the world (except Antarctica because that sounds super expensive).
Good luck! The giveaway ends Saturday, May 13th at midnight.
And if you simply cannot wait to get your hands on a copy of my book, rest assured, you can still purchase it nearly anywhere books are sold including Bookshop (best choice for supporting local indies) and Amazon! You can also add it to Goodreads.
